SUSTAINABILITY ASSOCIATE JD
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties of the Sustainability Associate, which may vary from time to time, include but are not limited to the following responsibilities that arise during the Firm’s day-to-day operations:
Project Delivery
Support project leads and the Managing Partner in implementing client projects through research, writing, and consulting on various economic, environmental, and social sustainability topics. Key tasks include:
a. Monitoring and assessing sustainability developments, including regulatory policies in the ESG space related to the Firm’s sustainability priorities. Provide timely, creative, and pragmatic solutions to assess and mitigate business impact.
b. Designing and contributing to engaging PowerPoint presentations for meetings, training sessions, and workshops to enhance client capacity for sustainability implementation.
c. Writing clear, compelling corporate sustainability reports that present clients’ environmental, social, and economic performance in line with international standards, sector-specific disclosure frameworks, and relevant stock exchange reporting guidelines.
d. Analyzing client sustainability performance data for use in corporate sustainability reports.Project Management
Support project managers and the Managing Partner in developing project proposals and tracking work plans, schedules, and budgets to ensure successful project delivery.Team Learning and Management
Facilitate team knowledge growth through research, internal training, and knowledge management. Contribute to creating new tools, processes, and systems to improve team effectiveness and enhance project delivery.Business Development
a. Contribute to proposal development to drive profitability and enhance business impact.
b. Assist in developing long-term client relationships by identifying and showcasing services that add value during engagements.
c. Edit and update the company’s website, promotional materials, and publications, including brochures, videos, and social media content.
d. Manage communications and PR initiatives, including identifying partnership, sponsorship, and advertising opportunities; responding to media inquiries; tracking media coverage; and monitoring industry trends.
e. Conduct back-end research on economic, environmental, social, and governance topics relevant to corporate sustainability.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Strong understanding of sustainability principles and ESG.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with stakeholders and clients.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data to make informed decisions and recommendations.
- Project management skills to effectively plan, execute, and evaluate sustainability initiatives.
- Knowledge of sustainability reporting frameworks and standards, such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and IFRS S1 and S2.
- Strong business acumen to help clients balance sustainability objectives with organizational and financial goals.
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word for data analysis, presentations, and documentation.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as sustainability, environmental science, business administration, or finance.
- GHG certification and/or a certification in any area of sustainability is an added advantage.
- A minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience in sustainability-related work.
- Familiarity with relevant local and global sustainability frameworks and reporting standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of relevant industry sectors and their sustainability challenges.
