Diana Maina

As a Sustainability Associate at Protos Capital, Diana Maina has supported the delivery of sustainability projects, bridging environmental responsibility with strategic business outcomes. Her work spans proposal development, monitoring and evaluation of project deliverables, and guiding internal and external capacity-building efforts. She has played an integral role in client communication and business development, helping to design ESG-aligned solutions while strengthening long-term relationships with key partners.

She has supported agricultural and SME clients in measuring, reporting, and reducing their carbon footprints. She computes emissions across all three scopes, builds and maintains GHG inventories, and ensures regulatory compliance with frameworks such as the GHG Protocol. Her work has enabled clients to reduce their Scope 1 and 2 emissions within target timelines. Beyond technical reporting, she drives climate innovation through projects, that advance access to clean cooking technologies and support community resilience.

She is currently pursuing an M.Sc. in Climate Change and Sustainability at Kenyatta University, where she also earned her B.Sc. in Environmental Studies (Community Development). Her academic journey is enriched by global certifications, including the Carbon and ESG Analyst course from the University of Cambridge, The Health Effects of Climate Change from Harvard University, and Project Management for Wildlife Conservation by WildTeam.

Rooted in both policy and practice, she is passionate about designing solutions that are people-centred, data-informed, and environmentally just. Her interests lie at the intersection of climate innovation, community engagement, and regulatory compliance—with a strong belief that localized actions can drive global sustainability progress.

When she’s not immersed in sustainability work, she enjoys swimming, nature walks, exploring global cuisine, and listening to music and podcasts that inspire personal growth and creativity.
